It’s Leo Season – 3 Power Yoga Sequences to Release the Lioness Within

Now that we’ve reached summer’s halfway point, it’s high time we ignite our inner fire. 🦁♌️

Here are three invigorating power yoga poses that will level up your practice and help you embrace your fierce and confident self. Roll out your favorite mat, and let’s get started.

Power Flow: Unleash Your Strength.

Start in a high plank position, engaging your core and lengthening your spine as you tuck your pelvis. On an exhale, lower down into a chaturanga, gaze ahead, and keep your elbows close to your body. As you inhale and rise into an upward-facing dog, lift your chest and gaze towards the sky. The tops of your feet press off the mat.

Then, exhale and push back into a downward-facing dog, lengthening your spine once again and pressing your heels towards the floor. Flow through this sequence several times, allowing your breath to guide your movements. 

Feel the energy building within you, helping you to conquer any challenge that comes your way.

Roaring Pose (Simhasana): Express Your Power.

Begin by sitting on your heels with your knees apart and your hands resting on your thighs. As you inhale deeply, open your mouth wide and stick your tongue out, creating a “roaring” expression. Keep your jaw relaxed.

At the same time, gaze towards the space between your eyebrows (the third eye). As you exhale, release the breath and draw your tongue and chin back in. Repeat this powerful roaring action three to five times, feeling the tension and stress release from your body. 

This empowering pose helps us to break free from limitations, embrace our inner strength, and communicate our intentions with unwavering confidence.

Warrior Pose (Virabhadrasana): Embody Graceful Power.

Begin by standing at the top of your mat. Step your left foot back and bend your right knee at a 90-degree angle, aligning it with your ankle. Ground your back foot, keeping it at a slight angle. 

Stretch your arms wide, reaching them parallel to the ground, with your palms facing down. Engage your core, open your chest, and lift your gaze towards your fingertips. Feel the strength and stability in your legs, as well as the expansiveness of your heart. 

Hold this pose for a few breaths, then switch sides.

With each practice, remember to breathe deeply and move with intention, allowing your body to guide you. Embrace your strength and confidence. You are powerful.
